3 Supported features & limitations
1. First time use
During the installation, you will need to configure the PADS4 Server location. The best approach is to complete the installation of the PADS4 Server first, before continuing installations on the device.
The minimum required PADS4 version is PADS4 Foundation 2023.1.
1.1. Resetting the device

1.2. Updating firmware
It could be necessary to update the firmware for the device after the reset. The minimum required firmware version: V1.7.1 build 20230424
Follow below steps to install a new firmware version:
Step | Description |
01 | Copy the update.zip of the firmware to the root of a USB stick |
02 | Insert the USB stick into the device |
03 | The device should recognize you inserted a USB with firmware and prompt you to install it |
04 | Follow the steps on the device to install the firmware |
2. Installing PADS4 Viewer
Please follow the instructions below to run the PADS4 Viewer on the Hikvision DS-D60C-B
2.1. Install PADS4 from USB Stick
The PADS4Hikvision.apk can be found on the PADS4 Server in the clients apps folder of the PADS4 installation directory. The default PADS4 apps directory is ‘C:\Program Files\PADS4\Foundation\Apps’.
You can also download the latest version of PADS4 Hikvision from here. If you download the latest version, make sure that you will also place it in the apps directory on the PADS4 Server, because if the server is containing a different version, it will install that version of the PADS4Hikvision app, once connected to the PADS4 Server.
To install the PADS4 Hikvision apk, follow the steps below.

Open the FileBrowser app |
05 | Select USB DISK |
06 | Click on the PADS4Hikvision.apk file |
07 | The message “Do you want to install this application” is displayed. Press the Install button. |
08 | Click on the Open button once the app has been installed |
2.2. Connecting to PADS4 Server
Now the device is ready to run the PADS4 Viewer and we only need to connect to the PADS4 Server. To do this, you only need to specify the PADS4 Server Address and press the start button. The PADS4 Server Address format looks like this:

Protocol: should either be http or https, depending if you are hosting with a valid public signed ssl certificate

Host: DNS name or ip address of the PADS4 Server

Port: is optional, if the PADS4 server not using the default ports for http or https, you should specify the port number.

The configured hostpath in system management, the default value is PADS4.
Example: http://localhost/pads4
Connecting to the PADS4 Server:

01 | Specify the correct PADS4 Server Location. |
02 | Optionally specify a viewer name, if not specified the PADS4 Server will generate one. |
03 | Press the start button. |
04 | The first time you click on the start button, you will have to give PADS4Hikvision access to photos, media and files on the device. |
05 | Then PADS4 Viewer will now be downloaded. Wait until it is finished, then the viewer will start. |
Now the viewer should start and connect to the PADS4 Server. After that, you can configure the other settings like screen orientation or block remote control in the PADS4 Ctrl Center or in the Viewer Settings.
2.3. Adjust the PADS4 Viewer Settings using the options screen
You can adjust the PADS4 Viewer settings directly on the display. To enter the options screen on the device itself, hold the left mouse button down or touch the screen for 3 seconds. In the options screen you can also return to the PADS4Hikvision app by pressing the Launcher Settings button.
2.4. Updating the PADS4 Viewer and PADS4 Hikvision app
After the initial installation of the PADS4 Viewer and PADS4 Hikvision app, if you update the PADS4 Server the PADS4 Viewer and PADS4 Hikvision app will automatically update to the version available on the PADS4 Server.
2.5. Accessing the Android menu when the PADS4 Viewer is running
If you access the Android menu while PADS4 is running, the device will reboot in about 30 seconds. This is because the viewer monitor service detects that the viewer is no longer running and because of this the device will reboot. If you would like to prevent this from happening, stop the PADS4 Hikvision app within 30 seconds.
