Before you start
Have your PADS4 server installed and configured
During the installation, you will need to configure the PADS4 Server location. It is recommended to complete the PADS4 Server installation before proceeding with the device installation.
The minimum PADS4 version is 2023.1
Preparing the device
Resetting the device
If you've previously used your device, we recommend performing a factory reset to clear all storage and ensure optimal compatibility with the PADS4 Viewer software.
To factory reset your device:
- Open IAdea Basic Settings.
- Click on Advanced.
- Select System
- Click on Factory Default.
- Click OK to confirm.
Your device will now factory reset. Once complete, you'll see the basic settings screen.
Important: Factory resetting will erase all data. Please back up any important information before proceeding."
Check device firmware
To verify the firmware installed on your device:
- Open the IAdea Basic Settings
- Click on Advanced
- Select Information
- The Firmware is listed on the righthand side
Important for PADS4 Viewer:
To ensure optimal performance of the PADS4 Viewer on the IAdea WRP-1000 Series, please make sure you have the following firmware installed:
- WRP-1000 (Android 12) - firmware 4.0.3 or higher
Update Firmware
To update your device's firmware:
- Open the IAdea Basic Settings
- Click on Advanced
- Select System
- Click on Firmware Update
- Click on Check Latest Firmware from internet
If a new firmware version is available, select Update from Internet.
The firmware update process may take some time to complete.
Set Date Time configuration
Validate if the date and time are setup correctly on the device, otherwise it is possible that you will get certificate errors or other connection issues.
To set date and time configuration:
- Open the IAdea Basic Settings
- Click on Time zone
- When needed correct the date and time settings
- Click on the back button
Installing PADS4 Viewer
Download the PADS4 viewer
You can download the PADS4 Viewer for IAdea WRP-1000 series on two locations:

Your PADS4 server; The PADS4IAdea.apk can be found on your PADS4 Server.
Browse to https://[yourPADS4Server]/[domain]/apps. Where [yourPADS4Server] is the ip-address or the name of your server and [domain] is your PADS4 domain. The default domain is PADS4. Download the PADS4IAdea.apk. - APP Center: You can also download the latest version of PADS4IAdea.apk from [here].
Remark: If you download the latest version, make sure that you will also place it in the apps directory on the PADS4 Server, because if the server is containing a different version, it will install that version of the app, once connected to the PADS4 Server.
Install the PADS4 Viewer
Access the Android home screen
- Open the IAdea Basic Settings
- Click on Advance
- Now click 3 times on the lower right corner of the screen
- You should now have acces to the Android home screen
Installing PADS4 viewer
- Copy the PADS4IAdea.apk you downloaded on a USB stick.
- Insert the USB stick into the device.
- On the device select the Files app
- Click on USB Disk
- Click on the PADS4IAdea.APK file
- Click on CONTINUE in the dialog that appears
- Click on INSTALL if a dialog appears that asks if you want to install the app
- The app will install, and you get a dialog confirming a successful installation after it has finished
- Click on DONE
- Click in the Android Home button to return to the basic setting.
Set PADS4 Viewer to start automatically
Next we are going to change the device setting to make sure it automatically start the PADS4 Viewer on device startup.
- Open the IAdea Basic Settings
- Click on Advanced
- Click on Content
- Click on AppStart
- Click on (+)Advance
- In Package name specify com.pads4.viewer.iadea
- Click on Set to save the setting
- Go back to Basic settings
You can now restart the device or click on Play to start the PADS4 viewer.
Configure PADS4 Viewer
Set PADS4 Server connection
Now the device is ready to run the PADS4 Viewer and we only need to connect to the PADS4 Server. To do this, you only need to specify the PADS4 Server Address and press the start button. The PADS4 Server Address format looks like this:
<protocol>://<host>:<port>/<hostpath>/
- Protocol: should either be http or https, depending if you are hosting with a valid public signed ssl certificate
- Host: DNS name or ip address of the PADS4 Server
- Port: is optional, if the PADS4 server not using the default ports for http or https, you should specify the port number.
- The configured hostpath in system management, the default value is PADS4
Example: https://mydomain.pads365.com/pads4/
Connecting to the PADS4 Server:
- Specify the correct PADS4 Server Location.
- Optionally specify a viewer name, if not specified the PADS4 Server will generate one.
- Press the start button.
- The first time you click on the start button, you will have to give the PADS4 viewer access to photos, media and files on the device.
- Then PADS4 Viewer will now be downloaded. Wait until it is finished, then the viewer will start
Now the viewer should start and connect to the PADS4 Server. After that, you can configure the other settings like screen orientation or block remote control in the PADS4 Ctrl Center or in the Viewer Settings.
Updating PADS4 Viewer
After initially installing the PADS4 Viewer, it will automatically update to the latest version available on the PADS4 Server whenever the PADS4 Server itself is updated.
